CSAI’s “Safe workplaces for All” initiative
28.12.2011.

On December 28, USAID’s Civil Society Advocacy Initiative (CSAI) program signed grant agreements with six civil society organizations to implement the 14-month Socio-Economic Rights (SER) Joint Initiative. The Socio-Economic Rights (SER) Joint Initiative aims to improve the poor working conditions on the Serbian labor market and promote social justice and internationally recognized labor and worker rights.
The Joint Initiative (JI) is designed to contribute to better socio-economic development through improving working conditions and promoting decent work opportunities by mobilizing citizens and CSOs to create change in this field; influence public decision-making processes and policies; encourage productive dialogue between workers and employers; and enhance media reporting on the issue.
The project will also help move Serbia along the EU integration path by advancing legal reforms and policies in order to ensure that Serbian laws are in accordance with EU regulations and the Decent Work Agenda (as defined by the International Labour Organization).
The SER Joint Initiative will be implemented by the following six organizations: Center for Democracy Foundation, Center for Development of the Non-Profit Sector, Dokukino, Timok Club Knajzevac, CSO Together Together and Resource Center Majdanpek. As part of the project, a public awareness raising campaign on labor rights will be implemented at the national level and local level activities will be conducted in the following cities: Belgrade, Knjazevac, Zajecar, Nis, Pirot, Majdanpek, Bor, Negotin, K¬ladovo, Novi Sad, Zrenjanin and Vrsac.
