08.12.2011 Youth and New Media 2011
The use of Internet and new media continues to grow in Serbia. To track that growth IREX and IPSOS conducted research on how Serbians use new media.
IREX Serbia and Ipsos Strategic Marketing will present that research at a press conference on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, starting at10 a.m. at the Media Center in Belgrade. A special part of this research is dedicated to the habits and the ways young people use the new media – Internet and mobile technologies and social media, Facebook and Twitter.

From November 22-23, in Zlatibor, ISC/CSAI organized an advanced level MAS training on project proposal writing for 14 CSO representatives from Tutin, Sjenica, Prijepolje, Nova Varos, Sabac, Loznica, Uzice, Valjevo and Bajina Basta.
27.09.2011 USAID launches Civil Society Coalition to Improve Waste Management
More than 40% of Serbia's garbage is deposited in the country's 4,500 illegal dumps. These are often located near rivers, city squares and parks, endangering public health and impacting the quality of life. In addition, trash is often collected by marginalized groups that can be brought into the mainstream to profit from their efforts.

06.09.2011 USAID Supports Improvements to Serbia's Waste Management System
BELGRADE - USAID's Civil Society Advocacy Initiative (CSAI) today launched a Green Initiative campaign to reform waste management practices and provide long-term improvements to Serbia's waste management system. CSAI will build on its previous environmental activism efforts and work on local, national and regional levels with civil service organizations (CSOs) and government leaders to improve waste management.

Through this RFA, CSAI will support two groups of CSOs that will work together to develop innovative, adaptable and sustainable platforms that allow citizens to more actively participate in the policy development process and equip CSOs to jointly and more efficiently advocate for concrete and tangible results.
23.11.2010 The Institute for Sustainable Communities announces a Request for Proposals to Design and Undertake Assessments of Key Program Areas
One of CSAI's key goals in the coming period is to encourage and support civil society organizations (CSOs) to work in partnership with one another as well as other stakeholders in areas that have been identified as crucial to the continued democratic development of Serbia as it moves closer to joining the European Union. Such partnerships can lead to immediate, concrete results, a hallmark of concerted advocacy. Encouraging increased collaboration among CSOs and with other stakeholders is also critical for the long-term development of the sector, as CSOs learn to diversify their base of support. As CSOs work in partnership with others, it will also increase the visibility of their efforts among citizens, businesses, media and the government- leading to an increased understanding of the positive role that civic activism plays in towns and communities across Serbia.
12.10.2010 The Crowning Achievement of ISC's Training Program at Olympus
The Institute of Sustainable Communities (ISC), as part of its training program, has organized a wide variety of training events for more than 750 civil leaders and activists from over 200 civil society organizations in Serbia. One of the most successful training events conducted by USAID's Civil Society Advocacy Initiative (CSAI) program, implemented by ISC since 2006, was held in Zlatibor from October 6-8, 2010. The Advocacy Academy gathered more than 30 representatives from the civic sector, representing the most talented civil leaders in Serbia, who received training on implementing effective advocacy initiatives through organizing well-planned, strategic public relations campaigns.
12.07.2010 Report about the findings from CSAI Success Grants Applicants' Satisfaction Survey
ISC/CSAI announced a Request for Applications (RFA) for its Success Grants Program on March 17, 2010. The RFA solicited project proposals from CSOs operating in Serbia interested in leveraging mass media tools and new technologies to highlight the work and impacts of their projects. The larger goal of the RFA was to increase the overall visibility of the civil sector in Serbia.
In the second half of May 2010, ISC/CSAI organized an on-line survey to identify what Success Grants Applicants think about CSAI's application process and procedures. The main purpose of the survey was to collect feedback from applicants in order to improve future project-related RFA forms.
10.05.2010 Mobile Advocacy School (MAS) for Sandzak Civil Society Organizations
On May 13-14. ISC will conduct MAS for civil society organizations based in Sandzak region. Advanced, second- level training on efficient advocacy campaigns based on budget monitoring, serves as continuation of ISC technical assistance provided to Sandzak civil society. This very same group have already gone through initial, basic- level training on Advocacy& Budgets conducted by ISC in November 2009. in Zlatibor.
10.05.2010 Mobile Advocacy School (MAS) for Sumadija and Zlatibor County Civil Society
On May 15-16. ISC will conduct MAS for CSOs based in Sumadija region and Zlatibor County. The MAS training on Advocacy& Budgets is tailor- made for civil society organizations that have never been financially supported by ISC. Both MAS events will be conducted by Zdenka Kovacevic and Mirjana Barbulovic, Advocacy Resource Persons, members of ISC team of trainers.

On April 19-20. ISC will conduct MAS for civil society organizations based in Nis and South Serbia region.
